Why do people dream? This query is often deliberated by inquiring minds. Why do people dream in similar ways? Why do people dream in such disorientated symbols manytimes and what is their meaning? Why do people dream of frightening things now and then?

There’s several scientific and mystical theories as to why people dream.

Why do people dream fun things sometimes and have nightmares at other times?

Some people see dreams as guides to events in the future. This is a view that is gaining more popularity though not scientifically varified!

The english noun dream has its origins possibly several other languages. The old Saxon word ‘drom’ meant mirth and the middle English word ‘drem’ came from the older English word ‘dream’. Both words mean joy. So it would seem that the ancient tribes felt that the dream state was a positive one.

Most different historical countries tended to believe different things and answered the question why do people dream in different ways. For instance, Aborigines, differ in their views in that believe that dreams are the real state and the waking state is the illusion.

A Dream happens when a person goes into a state of unconscious mental activity that is accompanied by theta brainwaves. While the body is relaxed the the subconscious part of the mind is still active and that can be seen by the presence of REM – Rapid Eye Movement.

In basic terms dreams are concepts expressed in sleep. These internal concepts can be related and seemless or seem totally haphazard. They can exhibit patterns and form or show chaos.
